Job summary

A local community organization in Owen Sound is looking for a Customer Service Representative for an on-call role. The position involves assisting customers both in-person and virtually by providing information about government programs and services, processing applications and payments, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. About the job:

In this position you will:

  • provide quality customer services in person, virtually and by phone; by providing timely and accurate information related to government programs, products and services in a retail and customer service-oriented environment
  • greet and assist customers with a friendly smile
  • process applications and renewals
  • provide information about government services
  • collect payments and issue receipts
  • answer customer questions
  • stay informed about policies and products
What you bring to the team
Exceptional customer service must have:
  • Customer focus to provide optimum service, explain information and meet customer needs and resolve customer inquiries and find solutions resulting in a positive customer experience
  • Effective communication to explain guidelines and procedures, respond to customer questions, write concise correspondence, apply judgment, tact, empathy and patience to meet customer needs
  • Thinking skills to probe for information, assess situations, and determine customer needs, and take appropriate actions
  • Math skills to handle cash, operate cash register and point of sale machines to process transactions
  • Computer proficiency and ability to use Microsoft Office, database programs, and operation of specialized equipment
  • Team collaboration to work well with colleagues in a team environment
