Position Overview
Experience
  • Experience in a cooking and/or supervisory capacity in a dietary department an asset.
  • Experience with therapeutic diets an asset.
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards required.
  • Training in institutional cooking including certificate/diploma from:
    • Recognized community college.
    • High school with cooking experience in an institutional setting.
  • Successful completion of, or completion within the probation period, of a recognized food handling course (i.e., Food Handler's) is required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Food Handler's certificate.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must be able to speak, read and write effectively in English.
  • Ability to use metric weights and measures and computerized scales is required.
  • Must be capable of organizing and prioritizing assigned tasks within set service time.
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently in a time sensitive environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Position involves bending, lifting, stretching, standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Exposure to temperature variations (heat and cold) and noise.
  • Exposure to chemical cleaning supplies.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
