Job Description

Haven is a Canadian charity that makes it easier for Canadians to help refugees. We use tech to connect refugees who need help with Canadians who can help, focusing on language learning, employment, and community integration.

We’re looking for a Content Creator to help Haven stand out online. Your mission: create content that inspires Canadians to get involved and convinces refugees to sign up. You’ll take user stories, raw footage, and campaign ideas and turn them into scroll-stopping short videos and graphics designed for both paid ads and organic social.

If you love experimenting with what works in feeds, are comfortable being on camera, and want to use your creative skills to make a real difference, this role is for you.

Responsibilities
  • Produce videos optimized for Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and other social platforms – you are comfortable filming yourself, whether creating content out at home or conducting street interviews.
  • Design simple, engaging graphics and visuals (ads, social, campaigns).
  • Balance humanitarian mission with platform trends – content that feels human, hopeful, and native to feeds (inspiring, not guilt-driven).
  • Repurpose user stories, testimonials, and footage into compelling creative.
  • Add captions, overlays, graphics, and music that feels native to social.
  • Work with Haven’s marketing team to align content with acquisition and engagement funnel goals.
  • Pitch creative ideas that drive conversions.
  • Deliver multiple variations for A/B testing and iterate based on results.
What success looks like
  • Haven is producing the best humanitarian / nonprofit content in Canada.
  • Paid campaigns see higher CTR and conversion thanks to strong creative.
  • Content feels authentic and is shared organically by our audience.
  • Marketing has a steady flow of new assets to test and improve every week.
Role Requirements
  • 2+ years in video editing/content creation (freelance or in-house).
  • Strong portfolio of content for ads or social.
  • Proficiency with CapCut, Final Cut, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or similar tools.
  • Comfort with simple design tools (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of digital and social ad trends.
  • Self-directed and detail-oriented – you get things done.
  • Creative and ambitious – you’re always pitching new ideas.
  • Collaborative – you enjoy problem-solving with a small team.
  • Responsive to feedback and fast turnarounds.
  • Mission-driven – excited to use your creative skills for social good.
