Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of Commercial underwriting experience, commercial programs experience is preferred.
  • In-depth technical knowledge and experience working in both property / casualty and automobile lines.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial rates and pricing to effectively underwrite.

Overview

In this position you will bring your programs knowledge and naturally curious attitude to provide best in class service to a portfolio of Broker partners while adhering to Unica’s targets. The position will require your strong attention to detail and organization skills; with an ability to prioritize and successfully manage your accountabilities within a fast paced and high-volume environment.

Summary Of Role & Responsibilities
  • Negotiate terms on new and existing programs
  • Recommend innovative solutions
  • Participate in broker visits, insurance industry functions and marketing events in support of broker relationship development
  • Provide technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members
  • Work in collaboration with other internal departments including but not limited to actuary, risk control, claims, marketing, business development, and legal
  • Oversee the maintenance of programs (renewals, endorsements, etc.)
  • Research current trends in the industry pertaining to new and existing programs
Education and Experience
  • University / College degree
  • Obtained or working towards CIP designation
  • CRM, FCIP is an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of Commercial underwriting experience, commercial programs experience is preferred
  • In-depth technical knowledge and experience working in both property / casualty and automobile lines
  • Exceptional knowledge of underwriting principles, concepts and methodologies in a commercial environment
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial rates and pricing to effectively underwrite and attract target business
