A community support organization in Winnipeg seeks a Class Facilitator to develop and facilitate classes on employability skills, cooking, and more. Candidates must be at least 18 and ideally have three years' experience with individuals with disabilities. A valid Manitoba Driver's License is preferred. This is a full-time role offering $17.00-$19.00 per hour along with various benefits.

Overview

Class Facilitator as a part of Trailblazers Life Choices Inc. will work directly with our participants. The Class Facilitator develops instructional strategies; is responsible for developing content and facilitating classes related to: employability skills, resumes, job developing, workplace safety and behavior, etc.; chooses standards-based instructional materials; provides coordinator with an understanding of current research; integrates technology into instruction. This role requires an individual that is able to support the program and team with:

Experience: Support Worker : 1 year (preferred)

Licence / Certification: Manitoba Driver's License Class 5F (preferred)

Work Location: In person

Key duties
  • Develop content and plans for weekly classes
  • Facilitate classes
  • Prepare a program outline for Creative writing
  • Program outline for Drama as well as facilitation
  • Prepare the cooking and baking meal plans monthly as well as the lessons for cooking
  • Prepare and send out the monthly meal plan
  • Facilitate both book clubs and follow the curriculum for each specific class
  • Art class on Thursday morning
  • Facilitate the after-lunch Math club
  • Record client\'s progress and challenges
  • Shop for supplies
  • Submit monthly plans via email to direct supervisor
  • Prepare client monies for the day
  • Count and reconcile client fees once per week
  • Input receipts and change, update tracking spreadsheet
  • Submit month end client financial records to Program Manager and
  • Support clients as needed
  • Will provide direction and support for clients and staff as necessary
  • Will be responsible for tracking client finances which includes recording and distributing client\'s program fees
  • Prepare class materials
  • Attend outings as required
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Optimally, three years of experience in a related role and supporting individuals with disabilities
  • Disability and Community Support Diploma preferred
  • A good understanding of the Vulnerable Persons Act
  • A valid Manitoba Class 5 (I or F) Driver License with satisfactory driving abstract and reliable transportation and proof of appropriate insurance on the vehicle
  • First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Non Violent Crisis Intervention certificate
  • Demonstrated language (oral and writing) comprehension skills
  • One must be legally entitled to work in Canada
