Job Description/ Summary; Chief Stewards

Our flagship business focuses on the super luxury research expedition explorer vessels and adventure deep sea submersible charter industry. CAC offers our well-heeled, high-net worth guests/clients the enviable, unforgettable opportunity to explore the world’s most stunning coastlines, remote destinations, and deep oceans in absolute comfort and style.

Our fleet of state-of-the-art Research Explorer Ice-classed Vessels and Submersibles — registered under DNV & ABS (internationally recognized classifications) — are equipped with the latest technology and amenities, ensuring unparalleled experiences for everyone who sails with us. To oversee and manage CAC's fleet of Ice-classed Explorer Vessels, Submersibles, and Dive Operations for all Adventures Expeditions, Exploration, Treasure & Shipwreck Recovery, Underwater Film/Documentary Entertainment – Climate Change/Global Warming/Marine Research charter operations.

Requirements to Apply For the Position:

This position requires a Canadian Transport Canada Chief Steward Certificate, Certified for Polar Operations (MUST), including Administration certificates, and experience within the Super Luxury Yachting industry is required upon applying for this position. References will be contacted.

The Chief Stewards hold a minimum of 7 to 10 years in the private super luxury expedition yachting and submersible industry managing a fleet of vessels, carrying private submersibles onboard, with toys, chase boats/support vessels in the Antarctica and Arctic regions, including Med Atlantic regions.

The Chief Stewards have a clear understanding, with a proven track record for safety, training, inspections, and management of operations for vessels crew changing and provisioning at sea and in remote locations in the Northwest Passage, Arctic and Antarctic, and Med regions.

The Chief Stewards have extensive experience working with CEOs and Directors of Operations securing and managing super luxury yacht and submersible charter contracts with private clients and charter management companies, exclusive membership clubs, brokers, agents, including scientific oceanographic research institutions and universities of 1B – 10B annually operations. Required upon applying for this position.

The Chief Stewards have exceptional Guest Experience and understanding working closely catering to the super rich and ultra-wealthy guests/clients and meeting their needs and demands.

Other Requirements are as follows:
  1. To work with the captain and crew to ensure all required vessel and equipment inspections are carried out and up to date.
  2. Ensures all crew and management training is up to date.
  3. Ensures all licenses, permits, marina fees, and private yacht club fees are paid and up to date.
  4. Ensures all insurance policies and liability forms are signed and up to date.
  5. The Chief Stewards have a clear understanding and experience coordinating and managing operations with connected floatplane, helicopter operations, including acting as standby support for other vessels and their operations.
  6. The overall management of the business including its overall strategic direction, preparation of agendas and background information for Board meetings and its various Committee meetings.
  7. Keeps the Board fully informed of the conditions of the Corporation and on all crucial factors influencing it.
  8. The development of annual works plans and related capital and operating budgets, development of operational policies and procedures.
  9. Communications and marketing for the purpose of business development; and actively participate in the compliance of the Corporation’s corporate governance policies and procedures.
  10. Ensures strategic and annual planning processes and procedures are undertaken and effective budget and plans are prepared for Board approval.
  11. Seeks out and develops business opportunities and presents such opportunities to the board for consideration and decision.
  12. Oversees fiscal activities, ensuring that all financial and non-financial reporting requirements are met on a timely and accurate basis, and ensures that reports to the Board are always transparent and provided on a timely basis.
  13. Ensures adherence to the legal guidelines and in-house policies to maintain legality and business ethics.
  14. All applicants must have previous experience in working remote Arctic or Antarctica, MED climate conditions.
  15. 2 – 3 years experience in Heavy Marine Offshore Commercial Industry.
  16. Current Chief Steward Maritime Certificates with current (STCW Endorsement) Minimum of 7 to 10 years experience working within the Super Luxury Expedition Explorer Yachting Industry on 30m to 100m private/public vessels in the Adventure, Expedition and Exploration Industry.

  30. CAC's itinerary will be Northern Atlantic – Newfoundland/Labrador – Home Base/Command Center, Mega Port – Seaside Resort Green/Blue Development at Cat Bay, Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland, onwards within our charter route/loop into the Northwest Passage – Baffin Island, Greenland, Iceland, Spain, Canary Islands, Bahamas, Caribbean, Mediterranean and Antarctic.
  31. Vessels for Adventure & Explorer Charter/Crewing – 12 guests – 12/14 crew.
  32. Community & Relationship Management.
  33. Examines and recommends partnerships with private and public entities in support of projects that will assist the Corporation in fulfilling its mission and objectives; and Promotes and advocates the profile of the Corporation.
  34. Support community events including Future Emergency Preparedness Planning/Management.
  35. Builds and maintains a high-performance culture through effective performance management, communication and coaching of staff.
Communication:

Fluent speaking language, creative writing and business management skills in English and 3 of the following: French, German, Polish, Spanish, Mandarin, Norwegian, Arabic, and Russian are very important for translation to international charter clients and guests, our charter travel adventure product, branding, business development, networking building relations with investors and stakeholders.

Prepares and presents charter reports and monthly/annual operating budget to the Captains, COO, CFO, President/CEO, and the Board for approval complete with all supporting background information and documentation; and establishes financial controls in relation to undertaking and monitoring the activities of the Corporation against the approved budget and provides monthly (or more frequently, as necessary) reports to the Board on the performance of the Corporation against the approved budget.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:
The Chief Stewards will have to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. There may be some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time, including all related onboard Chief Stewards daily duties. The Chief Stewards will be required to travel and may need to work extended or flexible hours as required. MUST NOT GET SEA SICK OR AIR SICK.

Environmental Conditions:
The Chief Stewards may have to manage a number of projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently to meet the demands of competing priorities.

Sensory Demands:
Sensory demands include use of the computer, which may cause eyestrain and occasional headaches. The Chief Steward may find the environment to be busy, high seas, cold and hot climate temperatures, areas with polar bears and wild animals, flies mosquitoes, jellyfish, noisy and will need excellent organizational and time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.

Mental Demands:
The Chief Stewards manage a variety of tasks and deadlines and may find the demands to be stressful.

Travel: The Chief Stewards will be required to travel when needed onboard of CAC's luxury explorer yachts, tenders, floatplanes, helicopters, and underwater submersible dives and other onboard toys and equipment when required.
