Job summary

A healthcare service provider is seeking a Certified Dental Assistant for a full-time role at the CFB Ottawa dental clinic. The position involves providing dental care to military members within a supportive healthcare team, with hours from 7:10am to 3:15pm, Monday to Friday. Successful candidates must have Level II Dental Assisting credentials and be a member of the Ontario Dental Assistants Association.

Qualifications

Job description

Calian is proud to continue a long-standing contractual relationship with the Department of National Defence (DND) to provide healthcare services to the Canadian Armed Forces. Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs health care professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members.

Position Overview

Calian Health Services is currently seeking a Certified Dental Assistant for a full-time position in the CFB Ottawa dental clinic located in the west-end within DND Headquarters campus off Moodie dr. The Dental Assistant will provide dental care to military members as part of the dental healthcare delivery team.

The clinic hours are 7:10am – 3:15pm. Monday – Friday, no evenings or weekends. Dental services are provided to active military members. No seniors, no children.

Responsibilities
  • Assist dentists or other dental clinicians chairside in performing a wide range of dental procedures to the full scope of a level II Dental Assistant
  • Take digital radiographs.
  • Perform a wide range of dental laboratory procedures including taking impressions and pouring study models.
  • Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments, equipment, and operating area.
  • Maintain dental operating area and monitor consumable supplies.
  • Provide administrative support as required.
  • Perform oral hygiene education to active CAF members
Qualifications
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Level II (Intra-Oral) Dental Assisting program.
  • Must be a member with the Ontario Dental Assistants Association and in good standing.
  • Must have experience performing intra-oral procedures and providing clinical assistance in all disciplines of dentistry.
  • Must have (or be able to obtain) CPR Level C / AED certification.
Additional Requirements
  • Candidates must be eligible and able to obtain and maintain a Reliability level Government Security clearance.
