Cashier and Guest Service Associate, Underground Gourmet

Full-time

Underground Gourmet is the new dine‑in destination and take‑away for locals of Front Street West. Created by Gourmet Cuisine, we provide innovative culinary experiences using fresh ingredients.

Gourmet Cuisine is a division of Compass Group Canada Ltd.

Duties Include:
  • Ensure each guest feels valued by offering excellent customer service
  • Accurately process payments made with cash, credit card, and debit via a Point of Sale terminal
  • Assist with all service and cleaning related activities within the food service, retail, meeting and dining room areas; including quality improvement, sanitation, and all facility‑related activities.
  • Reaching for new challenges and asking for additional responsibility
  • Balancing high volume with high quality
  • Participating in ongoing training and development
  • Must have an eagerness to receive, understand, and communicate guest feedback
  • Contribute to future menu offerings based on first‑hand knowledge of guest preferences and feedback
  • Learn and understand all menu items to better assist guests and contribute to future menus using the valuable feedback received by our guests
  • Set‑up, service, cleaning and tear down of meeting/tasting room
  • Gathering and assembling pre‑ordered meals and assisting guests with purchasing process
  • Follow Quality Assurance Standards when handling food, cleaning work stations and guest areas
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Must have genuine interest in current food trends and interacting with guests
  • Previous hospitality and/or food service experience
  • A sense of urgency and strong work ethic to coordinate the cycles of service and stocking needs
  • The ability to stay positive and calm under pressure
  • A warm, compassionate, and team‑focused approach
  • Ability to learn quickly in fast‑paced, high volume environment and work independently
  • Dedicated to excellence and hospitality
  • Comfortable handling cash and credit cards and a Point of Sale system
  • Personable & professional presence
  • Valid Food Handlers Certification
  • Ability to stand, reach with arms and hands, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Ability to lift objects up to 40lbs when required
Position Details:
  • Full‑time, hourly position
  • Typical schedule: mornings and afternoons between Monday to Friday
  • Based on business demands, occasional shifts during the early morning, evenings, and weekends may be required
