A local government agency in Metro Vancouver seeks an Auxiliary Cashier/Accounting Clerk. Responsibilities include processing payments, balancing cash daily, and assisting with tax account inquiries. Ideal candidates should have cashiering experience, ideally in a municipal environment, and be proficient in MS Word and Excel. The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $29.48 plus benefits.

The City of North Vancouver’s Finance Department is looking for Auxiliary Cashier/Accounting Clerks to join their team.
In this position, you will be processing tax, utility and other revenue payments through our cash receipts system at the City Hall Gateway counter and balancing cash on a daily basis. You will assist with updating and reconciling property tax accounts with Provincial Home Owner Grant claims and Tax Deferments. Other duties include issuing dog licenses, processing mail, filing, scanning, responding to property tax inquiries from the public and working on special projects as required.
You will have a minimum of one year’s cashiering experience, preferably in a municipal environment or in a banking or financial institution. Completion of a post-secondary course in accounting, along with practical work experience is desirable. You will also be proficient in MS Word and Excel.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
$29.48 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits
(Pay Grade 15 – January 2024 rates)
Auxiliary. Hours may vary. Shifts will be scheduled Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm.
