What You'll Do

As BooksTime has grown, so have our IT needs. We are expanding our IT department, which currently includes 3 full-time staff. The role includes three main functions:

• A) Support & Routine Operations – respond to helpdesk tickets, manage staff access and accounts in company systems, onboarding/offboarding, and more. Our staff use over 20 different apps and systems and require a wide range of support.
• B) Technical Project Management – work on initiatives to improve IT systems, including automation projects, internal software development to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and improving user-friendliness of internal systems.
• C) Security Assurance – enhance security measures to protect the company, staff, and clients; monitor threats and lead responses; stay current with cybersecurity technology; improve policies and procedures; provide staff training, and more.

The exact scope will be shaped around the strengths of the person hired. You may focus more on one function depending on your experience.

Supervisory Role

This role is suitable for an early-career candidate; more experienced candidates may be eligible for a more advanced version involving supervising IT staff and leading larger initiatives. Regardless of level, your ideas and input are valued.

Requirements

• An adaptable, fast learner who thrives on diving in and solving problems. If you prefer maintaining established processes, this role may not be ideal.
• Comfortable working mostly independently, with collaboration available as needed.
• Organized with strong project management skills: staying on top of tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.
• Strong communication skills: able to explain IT topics to non-technical colleagues; professional written communication for external partners.
• Willingness to adapt to evolving job functions as IT and security needs grow.

• Preferred (But Not Required): 3+ years of experience in IT management, product/project management, or software development.
• Security clearance (strongly preferred).
• Familiarity with security best practices and systems compliance.
• Cybersecurity certification (any of CEH, GSEC, GMOB, GCFA, CISA, CISM, CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CISSP, SSCP, ECSA, LPT, etc. is a plus).

Other Details

• Salary Range: Highly dependent on knowledge level, education, and location. For less experienced candidates: approx. $20–$30 per hour. For more experienced candidates (especially supervisory role): higher amounts may be discussed. Additional bonuses possible based on performance.
• Time Zones: Availability each weekday around 9–11am Eastern Time; rest of schedule can be flexible.
