The Opportunity

As part of the Resource Staff Team the Health and Wellness Director will be responsible to provide routine and emergency care to children and camp staff, monitor children with chronic diseases, educate campers and staff on preventative health issues, and collaborate with camp administrators to implement policies that reduce the risk of injury or illness. The Health and Wellness Director is responsible for the care of ill or injured campers and staff and related administrative duties.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for setting up and maintaining an infirmary to provide health care to campers and staff.
  • Responsible for the care, safety, storage and inventory of all medical equipment.
  • Responsible for providing health care such as emergency care, and first aid to all campers and staff.
  • Responsible for collecting, storing, and administering all medications for campers and staff.
  • Responsible for maintaining health records of all those who visit the camp infirmary.
  • Responsible for communicating camper health issues with guardians.
  • Responsible for reviewing pre-camp health forms of campers and staff.
  • Responsible for providing leadership in issues of health care to counseling and resource staff.
  • As a member of the Camp Glenburn Staff Team, the Health and Wellness Director will be a positive role model for fellow staff, C.I.T's and campers in every aspect of camp life, being conscious of health, dress, speech, etiquette and relations with others.
  • To assist in other Camp operations as requested by the Camp Director.
  • To submit a final report to the Camp Director prior to the completion of the tenure.
  • Understands and complies with Child Protection Practices.
  • To strive to ensure that every child who attends Camp Glenburn is treated with respect, understanding and compassion.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years completion of BNRN.
  • Know how to perform oral and subcutaneous medication administration.
  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours
  • Strong communication, customer service skills, a team player.
  • Strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills.
  • Familiar with head to toe assessments.
  • Comfortable and knowledgeable with various types of medications.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • A commitment to living on-site at Camp Glenburn from June to September.

Employment is contingent on clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Social Development Clearance Check.
