The Business Analyst, Investment Data Operations, primarily focuses within Capital Markets Finance to ensure that all data management processes and controls are completed to provide timely and accurate data within the daily cycle of investment systems, ready for business use. The role requires strong analytical skills, investment operations knowledge, data governance, and stewardship. The successful candidate will lead data initiatives supporting new business requirements, data enhancements, and solutions for internal partners and stakeholders. The Business Analyst will work closely with Finance Data and Capital Markets teams to deliver a ‘best-in-class’ data service and help OMERS Capital Markets achieve its data strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contribute to advancing data management capabilities and establishing a mature data management discipline.
• Develop a strong understanding of the end-to-end data lifecycle, from order entry and data sourcing to integration, lineage, and reporting.
• Perform business and data analysis to resolve data issues with vendors and internal systems.
• Support and develop new data requirements and solutions for business partners and stakeholders.
• Document operational processes, workflows, business process models, and metadata.
• Review and validate security pricing/valuation for investments, understanding valuation policies, methodologies, and data quality.
• Participate in investment system upgrades, including data conversion, testing, and implementation.
• Contribute to team, department, and enterprise initiatives.
• Develop proficiency with applications used in Investment operations (e.g., CRD, Calypso, Eagle Pace).
• Understand investment products and customer needs to respond quickly and accurately to inquiries.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders and business partners (Investment Teams, Risk, Performance).

QUALIFICATIONS

• University degree in Mathematics, Commerce & Finance, or equivalent experience. CFA and Canadian Securities Course are assets.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Data Operations, back/middle office, or investment systems administration.
• Knowledge of data management principles; experience with Master Data Management tools is a plus.
• Understanding of investment data domains such as reference data, market data, and risk analytics.
• Knowledge of investment and risk analytics across asset classes.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Highly analytical with problem-solving skills.
• Experience with or willingness to learn report writers like Crystal, Access; SQL knowledge is an asset.
• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel and Access databases.
• Experience with Azure DevOps is a plus.
