Responsibilities

• Hires, trains, mentors, and manages a team of Backend Engineers, fosters a collaborative and productive work environment.
• Sets clear expectations, goals, and performance metrics for Backend Engineers.
• Provides regular feedback, conducts performance evaluations, and identifies opportunities for skill development.
• Establishes coding standards, best practices and writes production quality and maintainable code in accordance with standards and best practices
• Understands overall project architecture and breaks down of high level non technical requirements into technical tasks
• Analyzes and reviews code keeping in view of the project architecture, third party integrations, infrastructure and organizational goals
• Leads efforts to design and optimize backend systems for scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Analyzes third party documentation, resolves any bottlenecks with third party services
• Understands overall delivery timelines and actively communicates with managers.
• Provides technical guidance to management team on delivery timelines
• Involves in providing estimates at various stages of project life cycle
• Thoroughly understands business requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience (7+ years) in Backend Engineering
• Proven Experience (2+ years) leading and managing Backend teams.
• Strong proficiency with C#/.NET and Node.js.
• Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational databases (MongoDB, Redis)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including containerization (Docker) and cloud infrastructure best practices.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles
• Proven experience designing systems to support high traffic and large-scale data processing.
• Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with clients and the Next League leadership team
• Proven ability to balance multiple priorities, adapt to constantly changing business environment, work independently, drive projects to completion, and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
• Proven track record of at scale solutions for consumer facing digital experiences.
• Proven experience in the sports industry is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with designers, developers, and product owners
