The Opportunity:

The Commercial AML Associate Analyst will support the organization’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance efforts within the commercial mortgage space. This role requires a strong foundation in AML principles, a basic understanding of the mortgage industry (preferably commercial mortgages), and the ability to analyze and resolve issues efficiently. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and strong time management capabilities.

How you will contribute:

  • Conduct AML reviews and investigations related to commercial mortgage transactions.
  • Analyze data and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Perform screening of potential matches against Canadian and international sanctions lists and evaluate any positive hits in accordance with AML policies and procedures.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports and escalate findings as necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues and implement process improvements.
  • Support audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Basic understanding of the mortgage industry, with preference for commercial mortgages.
  • Foundational knowledge of AML principles; prior AML experience is an asset.
  • Strong analytical thinking and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication.
  • Active listening and ability to convey ideas effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and maintain a respectful, cooperative attitude.
  • Strong prioritization skills and ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Genuine interest in AML required; previous AML experience is an asset
  • Able to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, structured team environment while also working independently when required
  • Familiarity with commercial mortgage products and processes is an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Working Environment and Physical Demands Analysis:
