School District #85 (Vancouver Island North) invites applications for a 0.60 FTE Temporary LART position at Eke Me-Xi Learning Centre, Port Hardy, BC. The role requires BC Certification and expertise in inclusive education, IEPs, and differentiated instruction to support diverse learners.

The contract runs ASAP until January 12, 2027, with a remote recruitment and retention allowance of $3,500 over ten months.

Formación

• University coursework in Inclusive Education to meet the needs of students with disabilities and related testing
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs
• Ability to work with multi‑age groups and adapt teaching for diverse learning styles
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with students, staff, and parents
• Demonstrated ability to motivate students and adjust instruction to meet diverse needs

BC Certification for the following teaching position:

Eke Me-Xi Learning Centre, Port Hardy, BC

0.60 FTE Temporary – LART

(may be combined with JP52A)

Commencing: ASAP until January 12, 2027

or return of incumbent, whichever comes first

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

• university coursework in Inclusive Education to meet the needs of students with intellectual, physical, emotional and learning disabilities, i.e. diagnosis and remediation of reading and math difficulties and Level B testing;
• experience developing and implementing IEPs;
• the ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies;
• strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills to communicate with students, staff, and parents in a team oriented approach to teaching and learning;
• demonstrated ability to motivate students and adjust instructional strategies accordingly and to adapt curriculum to meet diverse student needs;
• knowledge and experience teaching the B.C. Secondary Curriculum;
• strong classroom management skills;
• qualifications and experience working with students with challenging behaviours;
• experience with RTI (Response to Intervention) systems;
• strong interest in innovation and inquiry; and
• ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices.

The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $71,425 to $119,497, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The Remote Recruitment and Retention allowance is available for SD85 teachers payable at $3,500 over ten months.
