The Category Buyer is responsible for managing the sourcing and procurement of single or multiple sub-categories (Wiper systems, Locking systems, Mirror systems, Gas springs, noise insulation parts and other cab accessories etc.) within a broader category. This role ensures supplier strategy alignment, cost optimization, contract negotiation, and risk management while supporting the overall category strategy led by the Global Category Manager.
The Category Buyer plays a key role in supplier selection, market analysis, cost negotiations, and ensuring supplier performance meets business requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills, negotiation expertise, and the ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Finance teams.
Sourcing & Category Strategy Execution : Develop and implement sub-category sourcing strategies aligned with overall category plans; conduct market research and supplier benchmarking; collaborate with Global Category Managers and Procurement Managers; manage supplier negotiations to achieve cost savings, optimize payment terms, and create value.
Supplier Management & Performance Monitoring : Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for competitive pricing, quality, and service; monitor performance using KPIs like on‑time delivery, cost adherence, and quality; conduct regular reviews and drive improvements; ensure compliance with company policies and sustainability goals.
Cost Management & Financial Analysis : Lead cost reduction initiatives within assigned sub‑categories; track category spend, pricing trends, and supplier cost structures; analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) for cost‑effective solutions; document and report procurement savings and financial impact.
Contract & Compliance Management : Support drafting, negotiation, and execution of supplier contracts; ensure adherence to procurement policies, legal requirements, and ethical sourcing standards; maintain accurate records for audit readiness; monitor supplier risk and collaborate on mitigation plans.
Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Collaboration : Partner with Engineering, Operations, R&D, and Finance to align procurement strategies with business objectives; act as primary contact for supplier issues, price negotiations, and market insights; support new product introductions, supplier transitions, and process improvements.

Education : Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or related field; procurement or supply chain certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) are a plus.
Experience : Minimum 3+ years in procurement, sourcing, or category management, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments.
Core Skills : Strong expertise in supplier negotiations, cost analysis, and contract management.
Technical Knowledge : Familiarity with SAP, eSourcing tools, and procurement analytics.
Supplier & Cost Management : Proven experience in managing supplier relationships and driving cost‑saving initiatives.
