Qualifications

Sickness & Absence Operations Specialist

Overview

We are partnered with a global biopharmaceutical organisation to identify a Sickness & Absence Operations Specialist to support the end-to-end management of long-term sickness and absence cases in Belgium. This role will be responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely and compliant administration of sickness, reintegration and work accident processes while supporting the organisation's shift towards a more digital and data-driven HR operating model. You will work closely with HR, Payroll, Medical Services, external providers and employees to ensure a seamless experience throughout the employee absence lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end administration of long-term sickness and absence cases exceeding 30 days
• Monitor legal milestones, deadlines and reintegration processes to ensure compliance
• Maintain accurate sickness and absence data across HR and payroll systems
• Coordinate payroll and insurance-related activities linked to sickness and work accidents
• Act as a key point of contact for employees, managers and external providers throughout the absence journey
• Prepare reports and dashboards on absence trends, case status and operational metrics
• Proactively identify risks, missing documentation and process delays
• Support the continuous improvement, automation and digitalisation of sickness and absence processes

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in HR Operations, Payroll Administration or a similar role
• Experience supporting sickness, absence or work accident management processes
• Understanding of Belgian payroll processes related to sickness and disability benefits
• Experience working with HR systems and digital workflows
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
• Experience within a complex, fast-paced environment preferred
