Sydney Tools Pty Ltd in Melbourne is seeking a proactive Business Development Manager to grow the trade and commercial customer base across North Metro Melbourne and surrounds. You’ll own your territory, build relationships with customers, and work with store networks to win new accounts and deliver reliable service.

This field-based role focuses on new business, prospecting, and supporting major customers with responsive service and a clear understanding of their needs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in field sales or business development.
• Proven track record generating opportunities and winning business.
• Confident approaching new customers and engaging with business owners, buyers and site teams.
• Strong communication, negotiation and follow-up skills.
• Ability to plan workload and take ownership of results.
• Customer-focused approach and ability to work with store teams.
• Experience selling tools, machinery, fasteners or consumables into trade or industrial businesses is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Identify and win new customers through prospecting, site visits, referrals and relationship building.
• Develop a practical territory plan focusing on strongest opportunities.
• Understand customers’ requirements and recommend suitable products and solutions.
• Grow existing accounts by identifying additional purchasing needs and building repeat business.
• Manage opportunities from initial contact through quoting, follow-up and closing the sale.
• Coordinate customer enquiries, orders and service with stores in your region.
• Maintain accurate customer records and a clear sales pipeline.
• Deliver agreed sales and account growth targets while protecting profitability.
