Open House provides safe, stable accommodation for residents who are rebuilding their lives after periods of instability, including time in custody. Many residents are seeking a calm, respectful and empowering environment where they can regain confidence, strengthen independence and reconnect with community.This program supports individuals who may have experienced trauma, justice involvement, safety concerns and barriers to social participation. Support Workers play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming and trauma‑informed space that promotes dignity, healing and self‑determination. The role is well suited to applicants who are passionate about supporting women and people transitioning from the justice system.About the roleAs a casual Support Worker, you will contribute to after‑hours operations at Open House, ensuring the environment is safe, well‑maintained and supportive. You will assist residents with daily living tasks, maintain accurate records, respond to incidents, and work collaboratively with case managers and the wider team to support residents in achieving their case plan goals.This is a casual position based in Alice Springs, NT. The roster operates 24/7, with after‑hours, evening and overnight active shifts where staff are required to remain awake.How you will make an impactCreate a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for all residentsAssist residents to manage and maintain individual and shared living spacesSupport daily cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure high presentation standardsMaintain accurate, up‑to‑date client records and data in TSA’s electronic systemsProvide clear, accurate information in handover documents between shiftsIdentify risks to clients, staff or TSA and escalate promptly to the relevant supervisorSupport residents to work towards case plan goals, including attending appointments relating to health, housing, finances, education, justice and social inclusionTake preventative action in potential high‑risk situations in line with policy and procedureContribute to a positive, collaborative team environmentParticipate in a 24/7 roster, including afternoon, evening and overnight active shiftsWhat you will bringExperience within community services and/or a relevant tertiary qualificationExperience supporting people transitioning from the justice system or reintegrating after custodyExperience working with First Nations people, including understanding of local Aboriginal communities and culturePrevious experience in a similar support roleDesirable: experience in mental health, AOD or trauma‑informed practiceStrong communication skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationshipsAbility to remain calm, resilient and focused in challenging situationsConfidence using everyday digital tools, including email, databases and Microsoft applicationsSelf‑motivation and a high level of initiativeCurrent Drivers LicenceFirst Aid CertificateValid NT Working with Children’s CheckWhat we offer$44.54 – $47.76 hourly + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties, allowances and NFP salary packagingSCHADS Level 3 – Above Award conditions (up to 10%)Remote Area Housing Benefit (up to $31,800 tax free) and Entertainment Benefit (up to $2,650 tax free)Access to EAP and health and wellness initiativesOngoing training and development to support your growthA rewarding, purpose‑driven crole that makes a positive and lasting social impactHow to applyIf you are passionate about supporting people who are rebuilding their lives and contributing to a safe, community‑focused environment, we would love to hear from you.
