The Salvation Army in Darwin, NT is seeking a Senior (Complex) Case Manager to lead intensive case work within the Housing Support Program. You will develop person‑centred plans, connect participants to health and community services, and advocate for coordinated care in a trauma‑informed, culturally safe environment.

This maximum term role (to 31 December 2027) offers SCHADS Level 5 pay and works within a multidisciplinary team to support participants facing homelessness and other complex needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work or related field or equivalent experience with Cert IV in Community Services.
• Experience supporting people with multiple and complex needs including mental health, AOD and trauma.
• Experience completing risk assessments and safety planning.
• Knowledge of Darwin homelessness sector and culturally diverse communities.

Why this role matters

Many participants come to House 49 carrying the weight of homelessness, trauma, mental health concerns, AOD use and social disconnection. As a Senior (Complex) Case Manager, you help create a space where people feel safe, respected and supported to rebuild stability and hope. Your presence matters. Your advocacy matters. Your ability to listen, guide and empower people through complex circumstances becomes a catalyst for change. Every conversation, every appointment attended, every moment of encouragement contributes to someone feeling more grounded, more connected and more capable of moving forward. About the role

You will provide intensive case management to participants with medium‑to‑high complexity, supporting them to stabilise, engage and thrive within the Housing Support Program. You will develop individual case plans, facilitate access to health and community services, and help participants build confidence through life skills and group‑based activities. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will respond to critical incidents, support referral prioritisation and contribute to a culturally safe, trauma‑informed environment. Your professional insight and compassionate approach help ensure participants receive consistent, high‑quality support that aligns with TSA’s model of care.

This maximum term position is contracted until 31 December 2027 and sits within the Homelessness team, reporting to the Housing Support Program Team Leader.

Pay is in accordance with a SCHADS Level 5.

How you will make an impact

• Provide intensive case management to participants with complex and intersecting needs
• Support referral allocation and prioritisation based on risk, urgency and program capacity
• Respond to critical incidents and escalating behaviours using trauma‑informed approaches
• Complete intake and assessment to build shared understanding of participant strengths and needs
• Develop individual case plans that support stability, wellbeing and personal goals
• Assist participants to attend appointments, access services and build community supports
• Advocate for participants with government and non‑government agencies
• Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records in line with TSA standards
• Identify risks and escalate concerns appropriately to ensure safety for participants, staff and TSA
• Contribute to group activities and life skills programs that build confidence and connection
• Work collaboratively with internal TSA services and external providers to ensure coordinated care

What you will bring

• Degree qualification in Social Work, Mental Health, Welfare or Community Development, or relevant experience with a minimum Certificate IV in Community Services
• Demonstrated experience supporting people with multiple and intersecting needs including mental health, AOD, trauma, disability, family violence and justice involvement
• Experience completing risk assessments, safety plans and responding to high‑risk situations
• Strong knowledge of Darwin’s homelessness sector and local community supports
• Experience working with culturally diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
• Ability to communicate clearly, build rapport and create shared understanding
• Strong organisational skills and experience managing a case load
• Resilience, adaptability and commitment to culturally safe, inclusive practice
• First Aid Certificate NT
• Working with children check or willingness to apply NT
• Driving Licence

• $53.43 – $55.85 hourly + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties, allowances, NFP salary packaging
