Job summary

The Salvation Army’s Beacon Homelessness Support Service in Western Australia seeks a dedicated Support Worker. Based at The Beacon, this role handles front-of-house duties, intake information, and communication with staff and residents to promote safety and dignity.

You will support daily operations, assist in providing accommodation information, and respond professionally to distressing situations. A compassionate team environment awaits, with SCHADS Level 3 alignment.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Community Services required.
• WA Working with Children Check (WWCC) required.
• First Aid Certificate preferred.
• Current WA Drivers Licence desirable.

Responsibilities

• Front of house: first point of contact for residents, visitors and callers.
• Gather essential intake information and ensure data entry accuracy.
• Provide information about accommodation options and services.
• Greet residents and manage mail and daily operations.
• Support after-hours operations and shift handovers.
• Maintain safety, wellbeing and respectful conduct on-site.
• Respond calmly to distress, crisis or challenging behaviour.

Your presence can be the difference between someone feeling alone and someone feeling seen.About the roleThis position is based at The Beacon, a 24/7 Homelessness Support Service. The role has a strong front of house focus and involves being the first point of contact for residents, visitors and callers. It includes answering phones, gathering basic intake information, completing data entry and communicating clearly with other staff. The work also involves providing information about accommodation options to members of the public, greeting residents, managing mail collection and supporting the smooth running of afterhours operations. The environment is safe, inclusive and welcoming, and every interaction contributes to someone feeling supported and respected.This full-time permanent role sits within the Homelessness Support Service at The Beacon and reports to the Front of House Team Leader. Pay is in accordance with SCHADS Level 3.
