Job description

Restaurant Supervisor to lead service on the floor, working side by side.

You'll run shifts, look after the team and own the guest experience, this role comes with a direct pathway into management for the right person. You'll learn the business side of the restaurant as you go, with the people who have been doing it for a long time and want to pass it on.

Key responsibilities

Lead the floor through service: manage bookings and table flow, work closely with the kitchen, and keep a full piazza moving without anyone feeling rushed

Set and hold service standards, and coach the team in real time, on the floor, where it counts

Bring the wine list to life: recommend and pair with confidence, and help train the team so every table gets a good answer

Closing the restaurant, including cash-up and daily checklists

Rostering, training, stock and ordering, and build the skills you'll need as a manager

Remember our regulars by name, and give first-timers every reason to become one

About you

Supervisory or senior floor experience in a quality, busy restaurant (ideally 2+ years)

Solid wine knowledge: comfortable talking styles, regions and food pairings, and keen to keep learning

A clear picture of what great service looks like, and the habit of holding that standard on a big night

A current Queensland RSA (and RMLV, or a willingness to complete it as you move toward management)

Availability across a seven-day roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays

Villa Romana has sat on the corner of the Esplanade and Aplin Street since 1999, owned and run by the same family the whole way through. We're a busy, open-air trattoria looking out over the Coral Sea, cooking homestyle Italian food with good local produce from breakfast until late, seven days a week. Locals just call us "Villa".
