Job summary

A family-owned Italian trattoria in Cairns seeks a Restaurant Supervisor to lead the dining room, steer shifts and support staff. You will own guest experiences from breakfast to late, manage reservations, and ensure service standards are upheld with a strong wine focus.

Applicants must have full Australian work rights; sponsorship is available for the right candidate. You’ll learn how the restaurant runs commercially while advancing into management.

Qualifications

• Direct service in the dining room, coordinating reservations, table pacing and the kitchen pass.
• Define service expectations and give staff real-time coaching.
• Present the wine list to guests, recommending bottles and pairings, and train staff on it.
• Complete closing duties such as cash-up and daily checklists.
• Build management capability through rostering, staff training, stock and ordering.
• Ideally 2+ years in a supervisory or senior floor position at a quality, high-volume restaurant.
• Solid wine knowledge, able to discuss styles, regions and food pairings comfortably.
• A Queensland RSA and RMLV, or willingness to complete the RMLV on the way to management.
• Availability across a seven-day roster, nights, weekends and public holidays.
