Job summary

AECOM in Melbourne is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join as Team Manager, leading and developing senior structural and civil engineers on high-profile building projects across Australia and New Zealand.

You will provide technical delivery, design leadership, client liaison and mentoring, while ensuring compliance with Australian codes and standards. The role offers hybrid work and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• 9+ years of relevant experience delivering building structures projects, ideally in a consultancy.
• Chartered status with Engineers Australia (CPEng) or eligible for registration in Victoria.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex building projects across markets including health, education, defence, transport, commercial, aviation, sports and data centres.
• Lead conceptual and detailed structural design and construction administration across a range of building types, delivering practical, high-quality and cost-effective solutions.
• Provide technical leadership across structural building design, ensuring compliance with Australian codes, standards and engineering best practice.
• Prepare, review and guide design calculations, specifications, models and technical documentation, driving quality, innovation and well‑coordinated design outcomes.
• Build strong client relationships, support business development and contribute to winning work and growing AECOM's structural engineering portfolio.
• Lead, mentor and develop more junior team members, supporting technical excellence, career development and a positive, high‑performing team culture.
