Job summary

AECOM Australia Pty Ltd is expanding its Water Infrastructure team in Australasia. The Principal Structural Engineer will lead technical delivery for major water projects, mentor engineers, and collaborate with clients to deliver safe, sustainable infrastructure outcomes.

You'll influence design across the full lifecycle, from bids through to construction support, while leveraging SpaceGass/Strand7 and Australian standards to ensure high-quality environments for communities.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications.
• Proven experience in structural engineering, ideally within the water industry.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical delivery and mentoring engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of Australian structural design standards and experience with structural analysis software such as SpaceGass and/or Strand7.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Chartered (CPEng/RPEQ) registration is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Deliver structural design solutions for complex water and wastewater projects across multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead technical delivery across bids, concept to detailed design and construction support.
• Balance technical quality with programme and budget using sound engineering judgement.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and project teams, providing technical advice.
• Support business development through proposals and technical input to opportunities.
• Mentor developing engineers and contribute to technical excellence.
