Job summary

Octopus Australia is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to strengthen our electrical capabilities across utility-scale solar, wind and BESS projects in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. You will lead electrical design, technical governance and risk management, shaping standards and approaches across a major renewables portfolio.

The role offers opportunities to mentor teams, influence project contracting strategies and deliver bankable solutions through design reviews, commissioning and operations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated electrical engineering experience (7–10 yrs) on Australian utility-scale renewables.
• Experience working for EPC, engineering consultant, utility or renewable project developer.
• Proven involvement in pre- and post-financial close/construction phases as owner’s representative for electrical package.
• Strong MV/HV power systems knowledge and understanding.
• Familiarity with Australian approvals, engineering standards and grid-connected Infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Own, define, structure and manage electrical scope including budget, schedule, HSE, risks and quality.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to improve electrical engineering standards and governance.
• Coordinate interfaces with Civil, Grid, SCADA, environmental, planning, land, commercial and asset management teams.
• Review EPC/Owner's Engineer submissions, RFIs, variations and non-conformances to resolve issues and optimize risk.
• Manage OEM/contractor performance from design through construction and handover to operations.
