Job summary

Octopus Australia is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to strengthen electrical capabilities across utility-scale solar, wind and battery energy storage projects in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. You will lead electrical-related technical and commercial decisions, shape standards, and drive bankability, constructability and long-term asset performance.

The role offers multiple development pathways toward project/people management, with hybrid working arrangements and exposure to adjacent

Qualifications

• 7–10 yrs electrical engineering experience on Australian utility-scale renewables
• Experience with EPC contractor, engineering consultant, utility, IPP or renewable energy project developer
• Experience as owner's representative from design through handover to operations
• Construction exposure with contractor management and change control
• Strong MV/HV power systems knowledge
• Experience preparing tender docs, contract negotiation and construction delivery
• Familiarity with Australian approvals and grid-connected infrastructure
• Experience using power systems software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory
• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering; Chartered/registered status encouraged
• Eligibility to work in Australia

Responsibilities

• Own, define, structure and manage the electrical scope across a portfolio of projects from generation/storage to grid connection.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring while improving electrical engineering standards and governance templates.
• Contribute to contracting strategies, tender documentation, technical evaluation and post‑award management.
• Manage OEM and contractor performance from design through construction.
• Prepare/review SLDs, cable layouts, protection philosophies and technical specifications.
• Review submissions, RFIs, variations and non-conformances with proactive issue resolution.
• Coordinate design reviews, site inspections and technical workshops.
