Job summary

Octopus Australia is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to strengthen our electrical capabilities across the lifecycle of renewable energy projects in Australia. This role offers paths to broader project and people management, with office options in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

You will shape electrical engineering standards, mentor colleagues, and lead technical decisions affecting bankability, cost and asset performance on a portfolio of wind, solar and BESS assets.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of electrical engineering experience on Australian utility-scale renewables.
• Experience with EPC contractors, engineering consultants, or developers.
• Experience delivering electrical workstreams from design to handover.
• MV/HV systems knowledge and grid connection experience.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical scope from generation/storage to grid connection for multiple projects.
• Provide technical leadership, governance, and templates for electrical workstreams.
• Review design submissions, RFIs, variations and drive issue resolution.
• Manage OEM/contractor performance from design through construction.
• Coordinate design reviews, site inspections and technical workshops.
• Collaborate with civil, grid, SCADA, planning, and asset teams.
