Octopus Australia is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to strengthen our electrical capabilities across utility-scale solar, wind and battery energy storage projects in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. You will shape electrical engineering standards, guide technical decisions and mentor teams while coordinating with civil, grid and procurement colleagues to deliver bankable, cost-effective assets.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated electrical engineering experience (7-10 yrs) on Australian utility-scale renewables.
• Experience working for an EPC contractor, engineering consultant, utility, IPP or renewable energy project developer.
• Proven involvement in pre- and post-financial close/construction phases as owner’s representative.
• Practical site-based construction exposure, including contractor management and change control processes.
• Strong MV/HV power systems knowledge and understanding.
• Experience preparing, reviewing or managing tendering/contract documentation and contract negotiations.
• Familiarity with Australian approvals, standards and grid-connected infrastructure delivery.
• Chartered status or registration is not essential but highly regarded.
• Eligibility to work in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Own, define, structure and manage the electrical scope from generation/storage to grid connection across multiple projects.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor colleagues; develop templates and governance for HV/MV systems.
• Review design submissions, RFIs, variations with a focus on proactive issue resolution and risk management.
• Manage OEM and contractor performance from design through construction.
• Coordinate design reviews, site inspections and technical workshops as required.
• Contribute to contracting strategies, tender documents and post-award engineering management.
• Prepare/review concept designs, SLDs, cable layouts, protection philosophies, BOMs and construction documentation.
• Resolve electrical punch list issues on operating assets post-COD.
