The Fair Work Ombudsman is seeking an experienced criminal investigator and leader to join the Office of the Fair Work Ombudsman’s Criminal Investigations Branch as an Assistant Director – Criminal Investigations.

You will lead a small team, provide operational and technical leadership on complex cases, and help prepare briefs of evidence for potential referral to the CDPP. The role offers opportunities to develop investigators and strengthen investigative practice within the Branch.

Qualifications

• Substantial recent experience conducting and/or leading complex criminal investigations.
• Experience preparing criminal briefs of evidence for prosecuting authorities.
• Practical knowledge of investigation methods and powers such as warrants and interviews.
• Experience leading investigators and ensuring quality assurance.

Responsabilités

• Lead complex criminal investigations, including strategy and evidence gathering.
• Undertake significant investigative work and assist in prosecutions where needed.
• Supervise a small team of investigators and provide direction and coaching.
• Quality assure investigation plans, statements and briefs of evidence.
• Advise Director on strategy, risks and matter direction.
• Collaborate with CDPP, AFP and other agencies to build capability.
