Job summary

Northern Beaches Hospital is seeking a Telephonist Level 2 to be the first point of contact for callers, ensuring a professional and timely response throughout the NBH switchboard. This role sits in the Bookings & Admissions Department.

It is a permanent part-time position (16 hours per week) with a 24-hour rotating roster, offering a friendly, patient‑focused environment. The remuneration is hourly and aligns with NSW Health pay scales.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated Switchboard experience.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Computer literacy with accurate keyboard/data entry and database experience.
• Flexible work attitude and ability to work a variety of shifts.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Operating hospital switchboard.
• Answering incoming and outgoing calls.
• Delivering polite, clear, calm service in all circumstances.
• Contacting staff and emergency groups for code calls.
• Performing routine clerical duties as required by the Manager.
• Providing timely and courteous service to patients, visitors, staff.
