NBMLHDs Nepean Hospital is seeking a Patient Communication Officer to provide essential communication and administrative support, handling hospital enquiries, managing calls and reception duties, and assisting with patient movements within hospital systems.

The role operates on a 24-hour, 7-day rotating roster, including mornings, days, afternoons and nights. Applicants should have strong communication skills and a commitment to high-quality customer service.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications in office/administrative skills and/or equivalent experience in an administrative/front-line customer service role.
• Experience operating a multi-line or multi-extension switchboard with high call volumes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Accurate recording and maintaining information through electronic systems and records.
• Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team, with sound judgement.

Responsibilities

• Manage incoming telephone enquiries for hospital services and departments, ensuring professional handling.
• Support face-to-face reception duties and patient enquiry-related functions.
• Coordinate and escalate emergency calls following established procedures.
• Maintain patient movement information in hospital information systems and liaise with clinical and non-clinical teams.
