Job summary

The Salvation Army Australia is hiring a Support Worker for the Alice Springs Hub to provide direct assistance to participants experiencing homelessness and related challenges, under the supervision of Case Managers.

This full-time role involves greeting participants, offering practical support, facilitating connections to services, and helping maintain a safe, welcoming space that respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Qualifications

• Experience in homelessness services, crisis support, or related social services.
• Demonstrated initiative, self-motivation and genuine desire to help others.
• Experience working with people who may not have English as a first language.
• Knowledge of local Aboriginal communities and culture.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Reliability, integrity and alignment with The Salvation Army values.
• NT Working with Children check as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Greet participants with warmth and provide practical support.
• Assist with light meals and maintain a clean, respectful environment.
• Provide brief interventions and one-on-one support.
• Help participants access services and supports.
• Build relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members.
• Coordinate with Case Managers and TSA programs for coordinated care.
