Job summary

The Salvation Army in Alice Springs is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to assist with homelessness services. You will greet participants, provide practical support and help connect people to essential services, including brief interventions and one-on-one conversations.

You will work closely with Case Managers to promote wellbeing, routine and social connection while maintaining a safe, respectful environment in the Hub.

Qualifications

• Experience in homelessness services or crisis support.
• Ability to engage with vulnerable people respectfully.
• Experience with non-English speakers.
• Knowledge of local Aboriginal communities.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to work in a culturally safe manner.

Responsibilities

• Greet participants with warmth and offer practical support.
• Assist with light meals and Hub operations.
• Provide brief interventions and one-on-one support.
• Support participants to access services and income pathways.
• Collaborate with Case Managers to coordinate care.
• Contribute to a safe and welcoming environment.
