Job summary

Laverty Pathology, part of Healius, is hiring a Pathology Collector in New South Wales. The role involves welcoming patients, venepuncture, collecting samples, and performing diagnostic tests while maintaining accurate records.

Training is provided: a 6-week paid program with full-time hours in the first two weeks, then 25 hours weekly for the remainder. Travel to nearby ACCs may be required; WWCC and immunisations are required.

Qualifications

• Previous pathology collection experience is highly regarded.
• Certificate III in Pathology Collection preferred.
• Strong communication and rapport with patients.
• Ability to follow procedures, manage priorities and work independently.
• WWCC or willingness to obtain one prior to commencing employment.
• Live within a 45km radius of the collection centre/location (25km for metropolitan areas).

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and manage waiting area while explaining collection procedures with care and professionalism.
• Perform venepuncture and collect pathology specimens.
• Conduct diagnostic tests such as ECGs and blood pressure monitoring as required.
• Maintain accurate patient records and registers of specimens collected.
• Prepare, pre-sort and package specimens for transport to laboratories.
• Manage patient communications and take payments where required.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment.
