Job summary

Laverty Pathology is hiring a Pathology Collector in Orange, NSW. The role involves collecting blood and pathology specimens, interacting directly with patients, and ensuring high-quality sample handling as per procedures.

A 6-week paid training program is provided, with full-time attendance in weeks 1–2 followed by at least 25 hours per week for weeks 3–6. Prior healthcare experience is valued, and WWCC/immunisation requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Previous pathology collection or healthcare/ frontline experience preferred.
• Certificate III in Pathology Collection preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with patients.
• Ability to follow procedures, manage priorities and work independently.
• Willingness to learn and contribute in a team environment.
• WWCC or willingness to obtain one prior to start.
• Immunisation evidence including Hepatitis B preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients, manage waiting area and explain collection procedures with care.
• Perform venepuncture and collect pathology specimens.
• Conduct diagnostic tests as required (ECGs, BP, Holter).
• Maintain accurate patient records and specimen registers.
• Prepare, pre-sort and package specimens for transport to laboratories.
• Manage patient communications and take payments where required.
• Maintain a clean, safe and professional collection environment.
