Amazon Support Services Pty Ltd seeks a Systems Engineer to own the DNS infrastructure for the Route 53 programme, focusing on latency-based routing, Private DNS, Geo DNS, and global resilience. You will design, implement, and operate scalable DNS solutions, write production code, automate changes, and integrate with the broader AWS ecosystem while mentoring teammates.

This Melbourne or Sydney based role offers interstate relocation support and a path to impact national security cloud

Qualifications

• Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP(S), DNS, and TCP/IP.
• Experience with automation or scripting languages like Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash, Shell, or equivalent.
• Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting
• Experience troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host
• Operations experience with CI/CD Pipelines and deployment systems like Terraform, Github Actions, Jenkins, or others

Responsibilities

• Own the full engineering lifecycle of Route 53's DNS infrastructure within this programme.
• Design and implement DNS solutions using latency-based routing, Private DNS, Geo DNS, and failover.
• Write production-quality code daily; build automation, monitoring, and tooling to improve change propagation and reliability.
• Integrate Route 53 with the broader AWS ecosystem and participate in architectural reviews.
• Lead incident response, develop runbooks, and mentor teammates to raise engineering standards.
