Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Systems Engineer for the Region Services team to design, build, and operate Route 53 DNS infrastructure across Australia, including sovereignty considerations. You will own architecture through to operational excellence, delivering latency-based routing, Private DNS, and Geo DNS at scale for government and public sector customers.

You will write automation, monitor systems, and integrate with the wider AWS ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networks.
• Scripting experience: Python, Bash/PowerShell.
• Experience with Linux and network troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Own the full engineering lifecycle of Route 53 DNS infrastructure within the programme.
• Design and implement DNS solutions leveraging latency-based, Private DNS, and Geo DNS with failover.
• Write production-quality automation and monitoring code.
• Integrate Route 53 with broader AWS systems and collaborate across teams.
• Lead incident response, runbooks, and post-incident analyses.
