Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Systems Engineer to own the Route 53 DNS infrastructure within a sovereign cloud programme, based in Sydney or Melbourne. You will design latency-based routing, private DNS, and geo DNS, and build automation to accelerate changes, while partnering across teams to ensure high availability and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 5+ years of highly scalable systems experience.
• Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP.
• Experience with automation or scripting languages (Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash).
• Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Own the full engineering lifecycle of Route 53 DNS infrastructure within the programme.
• Design and implement DNS solutions including latency-based routing and Private DNS.
• Develop automation and monitoring to reduce change propagation time and drive reliability.
• Integrate Route 53 with the broader AWS ecosystem and collaborate across teams.
• Lead incident response, runbooks, and post-incident analyses to improve reliability.
