Job summary

Amazon in Melbourne or Sydney is seeking a Systems Engineer for the Region Services team to own the full engineering lifecycle of Route 53 DNS infrastructure. You will design, implement, and operate latency-based routing, Private DNS configurations, and Geo DNS solutions, ensuring zero-downtime failover and high reliability.

You will write production-grade automation code, contribute to monitoring and CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate across teams within AWS to deliver resilient, scalable DNS

Qualifications

• Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP(S), DNS, and TCP/IP.
• Experience with scripting or automation languages like Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash, Shell, or equivalents.
• Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting.
• Experience troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host.
• Operations experience working with CI/CD pipelines and deployment systems like Terraform, Github Actions, Jenkins, or others.

Responsibilities

• Own the full engineering lifecycle of Route 53's DNS infrastructure within the programme, shaping architecture to operational excellence at scale.
• Design and implement DNS solutions leveraging latency-based routing, Private DNS, Geo DNS, and failover to ensure resilience.
• Write production-grade automation code, build testing and monitoring systems, and create tooling to increase team effectiveness.
• Integrate Route 53 with the AWS ecosystem, collaborate across teams, and contribute to architectural reviews for reliability and innovation.
• Mentor teammates, lead incident responses, and drive a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
