Job summary

GHD is seeking an experienced Defence Environment Market Leader - Australia to drive growth of the environmental offering across Defence. You will lead senior client engagements, shape opportunities, and coordinate capability from across GHD to meet Defence priorities.

The role requires 15+ years in environmental consulting with Defence experience, strong leadership, and the ability to secure appropriate security clearance. Willingness to travel and a full-time commitment are preferred.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in environmental consulting, environmental management or major project environments with Defence sector experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Defence market, policies and ways of working.
• Track record in senior client engagement and winning work.
• Established environmental credibility to engage with senior clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong networks and relationship-building across geographically dispersed teams.
• Strong commercial acumen with risk and opportunity management.
• Ability to obtain AGSVA Baseline clearance (preferred: Negative Vetting 1).
• Travel required up to 1 week per month.
• Full-time preferred; part-time arrangements can be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead growth of GHD's environmental offering within Defence, shaping opportunities and strengthening client relationships.
• Provide environmental leadership across Defence pursuits and client programs with cross-discipline teams.
• Translate Defence priorities into opportunities for GHD’s environmental business.
• Collaborate with Defence, Environment and regional leaders to connect capability nationally.
• Balance client outcomes, technical excellence and risk in pursuits and delivery.
