Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice invites applications for a Teacher position across Corrective Services NSW. Plan, develop, deliver and evaluate courses meeting accredited standards to reduce re-offending and improve community safety, with LLND support in the internal education service provider AEVTI.

The role involves building LLND classes, enrolling learners, assessing, and maintaining learner records, in dedicated regional centres across NSW.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognised university; incorporating subjects studied which qualifies the employee to teach in the learning area required by AEVTI.
• Graduate Diploma (or higher) in Education, from a recognised university; and qualification in a discipline other than education; incorporating subjects studied which qualifies the employee to teach in the learning area required by AEVTI.
• Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, including TAE40110, TAE40116, TAE40122 or its successor, together with relevant related employment experience, as approved by the Secretary or delegate

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain LLND classes, allocate and deallocate learners using the Offender Information Management System (OIMS).
• Select and invite eligible learners to participate in AEVTI LLND educational programs.
• Conduct a pre-enrolment review of proficiency to determine a suitable education program prior to enrolment.
• Enroll learners into an appropriate education program following established systems and processes.
• Conduct classes and assessments contextualised to meet individual learner needs and adhere to adult learning principles.
• Develop lesson plans and teaching resources for courses meeting accredited qualifications.
• Participate in evaluation processes of courses including validation and moderation of assessment to maintain quality.
• Maintain administrative duties related to teaching including recording learner participation, progress and achievement.
• Contribute to offender case management by providing reports on inmate learning progress and achievement.
