Job summary

Metcash is seeking a Buyer – Meat & Seafood to bring product knowledge, supplier relationships and commercial smarts to our fresh food team. You will source quality meat and seafood, negotiate great deals, and maximise sales and profitability.

You will plan promotions, support retailers with optimal pricing and product ranges, and manage stock to minimise waste while ensuring availability. Strong negotiation, communication and organisation are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in buying, ideally within fresh food, meat, seafood or supermarket retail.
• Strong product knowledge and an understanding of supermarket retailing and supply chain operations.
• Commercial acumen, with the ability to negotiate, analyse sales and margins, and identify opportunities.
• Great communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a hands-on approach to getting things done.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
