Job summary

We are seeking a Technical SEO Lead for a fully remote role with a U.S.-based higher education marketing agency. You will oversee technical SEO across a portfolio of partner accounts, identifying issues, creating dev-ready specs, and driving fixes to improve visibility in traditional, answer, and AI-driven search.

The role also involves building Claude-based tools and workflows to streamline audits, QA, and content production, enabling the team to focus on high-impact work.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in SEO, with at least 3 focused on technical SEO
• Proven track record of uncovering high-impact issues and fixing them
• Hands-on experience with Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog, and Ahrefs/SEMrush
• Strong WordPress knowledge to spec fixes precisely
• Clear written communication for specs and client-ready recommendations
• Ability to manage outcomes across many accounts simultaneously

Responsibilities

• Lead technical SEO across client accounts
• Run audits: crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, structured data, redirects
• Prioritize issues by impact and effort with defended calls
• Write developer-ready specs and verify fixes
• Handle light WordPress tasks (titles, meta, redirects, schema)
• Monitor Search Console and GA4 to catch drops and indexing problems
• Prepare AI search readiness: crawler access, structured data, entity optimization
• Build scalable systems for the SEO service and analytics workflows
• Train team on new systems and measure time saved and results
• Join client calls for deep technical topics with the SEO Lead
