Job summary

Hireworks.Io is seeking a Technical SEO Lead to work remotely for a U.S.-based higher education marketing agency. You will serve as the technical SEO expert across a portfolio of partner accounts, improving visibility in traditional and AI-powered search.

You will write developer-ready specs, run audits, and build Claude-based tools to automate audits, reporting, QA, and content production. The role involves collaborating with the SEO Lead and Executive Director of SEO across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in SEO with at least 3 focused on technical SEO
• Track record of uncovering high-impact site issues and fixing them
• Hands-on experience with Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog, and Ahrefs or Semrush
• Strong WordPress knowledge to spec fixes precisely
• Experience building Claude-based AI workflows for audits, reporting, and QA
• Clear written communication and ability to guide developers and clients

Responsibilities

• Lead technical SEO across client accounts
• Run technical audits covering crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, structured data, redirects, and broken links
• Prioritize issues by impact and defend calls
• Write dev-ready specs for web developers and client teams and verify fixes
• Handle light WordPress implementation: titles, meta descriptions, redirects, and schema
• Monitor Search Console and GA4 to catch drops and indexing problems
• Own technical readiness for AI search (AEO/GEO) and design systems for Claude-based tools
• Build scalable SEO service systems and document them
• Train the team, measure time saved and results, retire underperforming systems
• Support client success and join deep-technical client calls
