Job summary

Proofpoint is hiring a Senior DevOps and Data Engineer to own data pipelines reliability and automation. You’ll design CI/CD for AWS Glue ETL jobs, manage infrastructure with Terraform/CDK, and lead observability across data platforms.

You will collaborate with data scientists and security teams, mentor junior engineers, and help scale data ingestion and analytics workloads in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE with data engineering exposure.
• Strong AWS core services experience (S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch).
• Hands-on with Glue, Athena, S3 lifecycle and data catalogs.
• IaC tooling proficiency: Terraform and/or AWS CDK.
• Robust CI/CD in GitHub Actions, Jenkins or GitLab CI.
• Containerization with Docker and orchestration (ECS/EKS/Kubernetes).
• Observability design: metrics, logs, tracing, alerts.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data pipelines and ETL jobs.
• Build and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using IaC (Terraform / CDK).
• Own observability stack with metrics, logs, and alerts for SLA compliance.
• Develop DataOps tooling and reusable pipeline templates for data engineers.
• Manage containerized services and orchestration for data ingestion microservices.
• Operate workflow environments (MWAA/Airflow/Step Functions) with reliability hardening.
