Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Database Administrator to manage, secure, and tune high-availability production databases, collaborating with engineering teams. This hands-on DBA role focuses on database administration, performance, security, and reliability—not data engineering.

The position requires 3–4 years of hands-on DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Aurora PostgreSQL, plus AWS RDS/Aurora, scripting in PowerShell or Python, Terraform, Kafka, and upper-intermediate English.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of hands-on DBA experience.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Experience with AWS, especially RDS and Aurora.
• Scripting with PowerShell or Python.
• Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform.
• Kafka (Confluent Kafka) administration and troubleshooting.
• Extensive performance analysis and tuning experience.
• Experience with high-availability production systems and disaster recovery.
• Upper-intermediate English level.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high availability of production database systems and keep them performing well.
• Plan for and carry out disaster recovery, ensuring zero data loss in case of disaster.
• Keep database systems secure, including access control, and adhere to security protocols.
• Analyze and tune database performance, and diagnose difficult performance issues.
• Work closely with engineers on system design, performance tuning and technical support.
• Operate hands-on in an extremely technical environment, administering the data systems that support the website.
• Stay composed under pressure and navigate extremely stressful situations.
