Job summary

Sezzle is seeking a Product Intern to join the Payments & Fees team in a fast-paced fintech environment. You will support the product manager, manage the backlog, and work with engineering, design, and data teams to understand payment flows and improve the product.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or a related field
• A genuine interest in payments, fintech, and how complex financial systems work under the hood
• Natural curiosity and a logical mindset - you enjoy working through problems, aren't afraid to ask questions, and get satisfaction from figuring things out
• Strong attention to detail - you notice when something's off and follow through until it's resolved
• Comfort working with data and a willingness to learn SQL; prior experience is a plus but not required
• Effective written and verbal communication - you can summarize a complex topic clearly and ask the right questions to fill in gaps
• Prior experience in internships, projects, or extracurriculars related to product, fintech, data analysis, or startups is a plus - but we hire for potential, not just pedigree.
• Demonstrated experience working with Claude or equivalent large language model tools is required; candidates must be comfortable leveraging AI to enhance productivity, research, and communication.

Responsibilities

• Ticket Management & Product Support — assist the product manager in drafting, organizing, and tracking tickets for changes and improvements to the payments service; ensure work is documented, prioritized, and moving through backlog.
• Context Gathering & Stakeholder Support — gather background context, summarize key information, and prep materials for provider meetings; respond to routine questions from resources.
• Payment Workflow Analysis — learn and apply SQL to query payment data and support dashboards tracking payment performance and operational health.
• Documentation & Process Tracking — maintain clear internal docs for payment flows, fee structures, and processes; keep cross-functional teams aligned.
• Agile Meetings — participate in agile meetings and collaborate with engineering, operations, compliance, and support teams; translate technical challenges into business needs.
