AgileEngine is seeking a skilled Python Developer to build and scale an event-driven integration platform with APIs, resilience features, and GenAI-assisted integrations. You will design contract-first interfaces, deliver durable event processing, and ensure exactly-once execution across distributed ITSM-like workflows while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of production experience with Python, including typed, tested, packaged services and APIs.
• Strong understanding of event-driven and asynchronous architectures (messaging, durable logs, at-least-once delivery, idempotency, retries, DLQ, replay, backpressure).
• Experience designing REST APIs and OpenAPI; willingness to work with AsyncAPI contracts.
• Experience with Apache Kafka or equivalent streaming platform.
• GenAI-assisted development in daily workflow and ability to assess AI outputs.
• Solid testing discipline (pytest, contract testing); familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficient with Linux, Git, and containerized environments.
• Strong problem-solving across distributed systems and clear written/verbal communication.
• Desire to continuously learn and evaluate new tools.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve a Python service handling event taxonomy, durable replay log, and workers translating events to ITSM platform operations.
• Design and maintain contract-first interfaces using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI.
• Create a correlation/decision layer turning signals into right ITSM actions with exactly-once semantics.
• Develop platform resilience to remain usable when upstream systems degrade or fail.
• Support multiple access patterns: fire-and-forget, submit-and-poll, webhooks, streaming, and bulk ingest.
• Develop event type registry and self-service onboarding for teams to register event types and subscriptions.
• Build GenAI-facing integration surfaces for agent skills and tool-calling interfaces.
• Migrate legacy integrations via deprecation paths without disrupting existing consumers.
• Own quality end-to-end: code review, standards, testing, observability, and production support.
• Participate in squad ceremonies and customer meetings to gather requirements.
• Autonomously own components or projects and document architecture decisions.
