Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a skilled Python Developer to build and scale an event-driven integration platform with APIs, resilience features, and GenAI-assisted integrations. You will design contract-first interfaces, deliver durable event processing, and ensure exactly-once execution across distributed ITSM-like workflows while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes modern architectures, streaming platforms, testing discipline, and the creative use of GenAI in daily

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of production experience with Python, including typed, tested, packaged services and APIs.
  • Strong understanding of event-driven and asynchronous architectures (messaging, durable logs, at-least-once delivery, idempotency, retries, DLQ, replay, backpressure).
  • Experience designing REST APIs and OpenAPI; willingness to work with AsyncAPI contracts.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka or equivalent streaming platform.
  • GenAI-assisted development in daily workflow and ability to assess AI outputs.
  • Solid testing discipline (pytest, contract testing); familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficient with Linux, Git, and containerized environments.
  • Strong problem-solving across distributed systems and clear written/verbal communication.
  • Desire to continuously learn and evaluate new tools.

Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve a Python service handling event taxonomy, durable replay log, and workers translating events to ITSM platform operations.
  • Design and maintain contract-first interfaces using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI.
  • Create a correlation/decision layer turning signals into right ITSM actions with exactly-once semantics.
  • Develop platform resilience to remain usable when upstream systems degrade or fail.
  • Support multiple access patterns: fire-and-forget, submit-and-poll, webhooks, streaming, and bulk ingest.
  • Develop event type registry and self-service onboarding for teams to register event types and subscriptions.
  • Build GenAI-facing integration surfaces for agent skills and tool-calling interfaces.
  • Migrate legacy integrations via deprecation paths without disrupting existing consumers.
  • Own quality end-to-end: code review, standards, testing, observability, and production support.
  • Participate in squad ceremonies and customer meetings to gather requirements.
  • Autonomously own components or projects and document architecture decisions.

Job description

MENDOZA, Argentina | Posted on 10/19/2026

AgileEngine is an Inc. 5000 company that creates award-winning software for Fortune 500 brands and trailblazing startups across 17+ industries. We rank among the leaders in areas like application development and AI/ML, and our people-first culture has earned us multiple Best Place to Work awards.

WHY JOIN US

If you're looking for a place to grow, make an impact, and work with people who care, we'd love to meet you!

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Python Developer to build and scale an event-driven integration platform, including APIs, resilience mechanisms, and AI-facing integrations.

MUST HAVES
  • - At least 4 years of production experience with Python — typed, tested, packaged services and APIs, not just scripting — with solid development fundamentals: data structures, design patterns, concurrency and asynchronous programming.
  • - Solid grasp of event-driven and asynchronous architecture: messaging, durable logs, at-least-once delivery, idempotency, retries, dead-letter queues, replay and backpressure.
  • - REST API design and practical OpenAPI experience; willingness to work to AsyncAPI contracts.
  • - Apache Kafka or an equivalent streaming platform.
  • - GenAI-assisted development — you actively use AI coding agents in your daily workflow, or are demonstrably keen to adopt them. We build with these tools and expect everyone in the squad to be fluent in them, including the judgement to know when their output cannot be trusted.
  • - Testing discipline (pytest, contract testing), CI/CD pipelines, Linux, Git and containers.
  • - Methodical problem-solving and debugging across distributed systems.
  • - Strong written and verbal communication — you can explain a trade-off (consistency versus availability, synchronous versus asynchronous) to a global audience and defend it in architectural review.
  • - A genuine desire to keep learning, and to evaluate new tools thoroughly rather than adopt them uncritically.
NICE TO HAVES
  • - Building GenAI-facing products: agent skills, tool-calling protocols, retrieval pipelines, or LLM API integration.
  • - Integration experience with large commercial SaaS platforms, particularly ITSM or ITAM products.
  • - Relational and NoSQL databases; GraphQL; OAuth2 and enterprise identity integration.
  • - ITSM/ITAM domain knowledge — incident, change, service request, configuration and asset management.
  • - Experience decommissioning legacy integrations and running deprecation programmes.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • - Build and evolve the backbone — a Python service handling an observation / intent / outcome event taxonomy, a durable replayable event log, and workers that translate events into operations on the ITSM platform.
  • - Design and maintain contract-first interfaces using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI.
  • - Build the correlation and decision layer that turns incoming signals into the right ITSM actions — deduplicated, correlated, and applied exactly once.
  • - Design and deliver the platform's resilience mechanisms — keeping the service usable, and consumer requests safe and recoverable, when the upstream vendor platform is degraded or unavailable.
  • - Build multiple access patterns over a single async core — fire-and-forget, submit-and-poll, webhook and stream subscriptions, and bulk/micro-batch ingest — so each consumer integrates at the level its use case demands.
  • - Develop the event type registry and self-service onboarding, so consuming teams register their own event types, handlers and subscriptions.
  • - Build GenAI-facing integration surfaces — agent skills and tool-calling interfaces that let AI agents discover and consume the platform safely.
  • - Modernise and migrate legacy integrations onto the new platform through managed deprecation paths, without disrupting existing consumers.
  • - Own quality end to end: code review, coding standards, contract and integration testing, observability, and production support of what you ship.
  • - Take part in squad ceremonies and customer-facing meetings; work directly with consuming teams to understand their requirements and constraints.
  • - Autonomously take ownership of a component or an entire project, and work with the squad's technical architect to document significant decisions as architecture decision records.
PERKS AND BENEFITS
  • - Professional growth: Mentorship, TechTalks, and personalized growth roadmaps.
  • - Competitive compensation: USD-based pay with education, fitness, and team activity budgets.
  • - Exciting projects: Modern solutions with Fortune 500 and top product companies.
  • - Flextime: Flexible schedule with remote and office options.
